Her story and significance
Chandra means moon and ghanta means bell. Chandraghanta wears a curved moon on her forehead, shaped a little like a bell. She is remembered on the third day. In many pictures she rides a tiger and carries things that show she is ready to protect those in danger.
Her face can look peaceful even when her hands show strength. That is something special about courage: it does not always mean shouting. A gentle person can still say, ‘That is not fair,’ or stand beside a friend who needs help.
When families ring a bell during worship, its clear sound invites attention to the moment. Looking at Chandraghanta, a child can listen, breathe, and remember that being calm and being brave can happen together.
A little prayer

Om Devi Chandraghantayai Namah
I bow to Chandraghanta, the goddess with the moon-shaped bell.
A traditional short name mantra, not a verse from the Devi Mahatmya. Audio is not available for this prayer.
